Proof of current 2024 AAU membership is necessary for tryout. Go to www.aauvolleyball.org. Click “Join AAU” or log in. Be sure to include the Top Gun VBC Club Code of W3AF4D. (The club code can be changed if you choose not to play with Top Gun VBC.) Complete instructions are listed below.
What to bring to SPRING Tryouts:
PRE-REGISTRATION IS NECESSARY A MINIMUM OF 24 HOURS PRIOR TO THE TRYOUT.
To Pre-Register, email [email protected] with NAME, GRADE AND BIRTH DATE W/ YEAR.
Bring completed registration form and $40.00 (cash or check made payable to Top Gun VBC). Registration forms is available here:
What age should my daughter tryout for? Should I just use her age?
Top Gun VBC and the AAU organization follow the USA Volleyball guidelines for age eligibility. This is based on the age of the athlete on July 1, 2024. Grade is a secondary determinant as we look to keep athletes within their “peer group” much of the time. Please attend the tryout according to the following age definitions:
There will be no tryout for 12U athletes. Registration forms will be available for the 12U program (athletes born on or after July 1, 2011) here starting February 23, 2024.
AGE DEFINITIONS:
13 and under (13U): Born on or after July 1, 2010 (July 2010, August 2010, September 2010, October 2010, November 2010, December 2010, January 2011, February 2011, March 2011, April 2011, May 2011, June 2011).
14 and under (14U): Born on or after July 1, 2009 (July 2009, August 2009, September 2009, October 2009, November 2009, December 2009, January 2010, February 2010, March 2010, April 2010, May 2010, June 2010).
15 and under (15U): Born on or after July 1, 2008 (July 2008, August 2008, September 2008, October 2008, November 2008, December 2008, January 2009, February 2009, March 2009, April 2009, May 2009, June 2009).
16 and under (16U): Born on or after July 1, 2007 (July 2007, August 2007, September 2007, October 2007, November 2007, December 2007, January 2008, February 2008, March 2008, April 2008, May 2008, June 2008).
17 and under (17U): Born on or after July 1, 2006 (July 2006, August 2006, September 2006, October 2006, November 2006, December 2006, January 2007, February 2007, March 2007, April 2007, May 2007, June 2007).
18 and under (18U): Born on or after July 1, 2005 (July 2005, August 2005, September 2005, October 2005, November 2005, December 2005, January 2006, February 2006, March 2006, April 2006, May 2006, June 2006).
SPRING TRYOUTS WILL BE HELD FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 23, 2024 as follows:
13U Tryouts (Born between July 1, 2010 and June 30, 2011): 6:00 – 7:45pm
14U Tryouts (Born between July 1, 2009 and June 30, 2010): 6:00 – 7:45pm
15U Tryouts (Born between July 1, 2008 and June 30, 2009): 7:45 – 9:30pm
16U/17U/18U Tryouts – (16U Born between July 1, 2007 and June 30, 2008; 17U Born between July 1, 2006 and June 30, 2007; 18U Born between July 1, 2005 and June 30, 2006): 7:45 – 9:30pm
Tryouts will be held at Scranton Middle School, 8415 Maltby Rd., Brighton, MI 48116.

To register for an AAU Membership:
- Go to www.aauvolleyball.org
- Click on the link to “Join AAU” (Red) or LOG IN if you have an account.
- Click on “Get a Membership” (Green)
- Select “Youth Athlete Membership” (Green)
- Enter Sport (Volleyball). There is no need for an added benefit membership. All tournaments will be appropriately AAU licensed and sanctioned. Regular $14.00 membership is fine.
- Choose your desired term – one, two or three years
- Select yes to “member of a club” The 2024 Top Gun club code is W3AF4D or select Top Gun VBC from the drop down menu.
- Enter personal information as requested. Parent email is recommended. Options of Be Recruited involvement, t-shirt order or establishing an account is optional.
- Enter billing information and opt for view and print. You may also print from the email that the AAU will send you. This AAU ‘card’ with the membership number listed should be sent with your athlete to tryouts as well as entering this number on the registration form.
